Who We Are

We are the University's Planning & Construction organization dedicated to enhancing the physical assets and natural environment of our campuses. We provide the planning, design and construction oversight for our campuses in an efficient, knowledgeable and cost-effective manner at the highest quality possible.

What We Do

Our focus is expertise in all aspects of the capital project development process. We direct and coordinate the project team — comprised of in-house staff and contracted consultants — from feasibility and planning through project construction and start-up operations. From conception through implementation, we offer single source responsibility for University-wide physical projects.

Pre-Design Phase: We focus on assessing campus needs and translating those needs into facility requirements consistent with the University's business plan. Our mission is to carefully and collegially plan our projects prior to initiating a costly design and engineering program.

Design Phase: We systematically analyze and control the design process, while ensuring conformance of the plans to the University's needs and expectations, budget constraints, schedule goals and quality parameters.

Construction Phase: We strive to facilitate the decision process from a constructability standpoint via communication across the team. Effective communication during the construction phase helps to avoid problems later on with time, cost and quality.

Move In / Occupancy Phase: We assess the results by focusing on commissioning the facility for use by our campus constituents, evaluating the performance of the team and assessing the overall building performance.

Our Goals

We proactively seek creative and innovative solutions to meet our customer's needs. Our aim is to treat our customers as we would like to be treated: with courtesy, professionalism, and quality services in a timely manner. We strive to maintain a position of responsibility as stewards of funds provided for design and construction of new facilities and the renovation of existing structures. We promote the personal growth and development of our staff through continuous education and training.

We will continue to strive toward these goals by:

  • Providing our diverse faculty, staff, students, visitors and community with a safe and healthy educational, work and social environment.
  • Providing highly-trained staff who are skilled in their area of expertise.
  • Ensuring that stakeholders (our customers) are involved in the planning of projects that directly affect them.
