Nothing is Stronger Than The Heart of A Volunteer:
Have A Heart – Connect with the ERAU Volunteer Network
The ERAU Volunteer Network has operated with thousands of volunteers
helping and supporting the needs of the community over the last decade. Get
involved by coming by our office, to see how we may connect your interests
and skills to the needs of our Halifax Area community, or through the Internet…the
world.
Our office is located in a two-room suite, in the Tine Davis Pool Building.
Our door is located on the west side of that building (around the corner from
the Counseling Center/Orientation Department.) We will generally be open from
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. There are 10 federally funded student employees who
operate this office; the coordinator of the ERAU Volunteer Network is Jean
Snyder (who is also Activities Coordinator, in International Student Services.).
Call the Volunteer Network at: 226-7082. We can be reached by on-campus e-mail:
outreach@erau.edu.
Feel that heartbeat, and find a way to get involved in your community –
as a volunteer. We are here to serve you.
Embry Riddle Resident Student Association
Top
The Embry-Riddle Resident Student Association (E.R.R.S.A.) works
to make life better for students living on campus. Its voting members are
all students elected by their peers in the residence halls.
The movement to start a residence hall government at Embry-Riddle
was a cooperative effort between residence life staff and students. It began
in 1996 after the Student Village was built. The goal was to create not only
a new residence hall building but also a true “living-learning”
environment. In Fall 1996, many students signed an interest sheet, a committee
began meeting to discuss structure, and elections were planned. The first
ERRSA officers were introduced in the Spring of 1997.
E.R.R.S.A. is affiliated with the National Association of College
and University Residence Halls (NACURH), the world’s largest student-run
organization, and its state and regional affiliates. Through this involvement,
students have the opportunities to receive leadership training; to share ideas
& information with students from other schools; and to represent our school
at state, regional, and national levels. Although it is not directly affiliated
with ERAU’s Student Government Association (SGA) or with the Residence
Life staff, ERRSA works very closely with both.
Q & A
Q: How can I get involved?
In the Fall, there will be ERRSA elections for hall representative positions.
Think about running for a hall rep position in your residence hall and
look out for flyers, check out Channel 2, and ask your RA about election
info sessions which will inform you of what you need to do to run in
the election. If you don’t run for a position, make sure you vote!
Q: Does ERRSA affect me?
If you live on campus – yes! The students you elect to represent you
will be helping shape policies that affect life on campus. They will also
be the students who bring you social events and activities in the residence
halls. Make sure you find out who your hall representatives are and let them
know what you think about residence hall life. Or better yet – become
a representative yourself!
Q: Where is the ERRSA office?
The office is located in the Student Village next to the Housing Office, formerly
the
C-Store. There are no regular office hours at this time, but you can leave
messages at 386-323-8038.
Q: How can I get more information?
Talk to an ERRSA member or contact Kara, the ERRSA Advisor, at 386-323-8000.
Be on the lookout for signs and posters about ERRSA activities, and check
out the ERRSA website:
