In addition to the the enrichment, distinction, and competitive edge associated with the Honors Program, there is a set of Honors Program perks:

Pocket Personal Computer
A Dell Pocket personal computer is issued at the beginning of the first year to each student enrolled in the Honors Program.

Priority Registration
Honors students are allowed to register for classes prior to normal pre-registration dates.

Honors Housing
During their freshman year, Honors students electing this option are housed together in a University residence hall.

Honors Seminars
Honors Program students are ensured enrollment in three successive Honors seminar courses, each having a maximum enrollment of 20 Honors students.

Distinguished Speaker Series
The Honors Program sponsors a series of lectures presented by speakers of national and international reputation. Information about the current year's program will be updated on the Speaker Series page.

Faculty Lecture Series
Honors students are encouraged to attend the monthly “Feed Your Head” faculty lecture series, sponsored and arranged by the Honors Program, open to the entire University community. These presentations feature University professors sharing their knowledge on subjects of general interest and encouraging discussion in their areas of expertise.

Special Honors Notations
Honors Program students receive Honors notations on the transcript and diploma.

Additional Benefits

Program Activities

The Honors Program also focuses on building community among its members by providing social activities such as a picnic on the beach to kick off the year, a Thanksgiving dinner for students remaining on campus, and the spring semester EcoAdventure, transporting students to a Florida location known for its natural beauty and environmental interest. The Honors Students Association (HSA) also emphasizes community-building, and sponsors a number of social events throughout the year.

Honors Student Association (HSA)

The Honors Students Association strengthens the Honors students' sense of community and organization through its commitment to social activities and service. The student officers also serve to communicate student ideas, concerns, and suggestions to the Honors director. All students in the Honors Program are members of the HSA.

Honors Program Library

The Honors Program is developing a collection of books available only to students in Honors. The "must read, must share" books have all been recommended by Honors Program students and involved faculty. This collection, begun in 2004, will be added to annually. See the catalog of current listings.
