Communication Student Profiles

Kelly Billon, McHenry, Ill.

Kelly is currently a senior in ERAU’s Honors Program, double- majoring in Communication and Meteorology, with a minor in Psychology.

She has served as president of the Honors Student Association and Communication Student Advisory Board, as well as a resident advisor and peer mentor. Kelly also served as team leader for the Embry-Riddle's NASA Means Business Team, which was recently awarded first place in a national, year-long competition.

Kelly has been asked to sit on the Coalition for Space Exploration Advisory Board as one of the first women and student representatives. Kelly met with members of Congress, and NASA Administrator Mike Griffin while representing the Coalition at Space Day on the Hill. Kelly is honored to be the recipient of the Communication Merit Scholarship, as well as sponsorships from the Walt Disney Company Foundation and SunTrust Scholars.


Suzanna Brooks, St. Mary’s, Ga.


Suzanna is a junior majoring in Communication with multiple minors. She's a member of both the Art Club and Tae Kwon Do Club. Off campus, Suzanna works with America Reads at a local elementary school. She is also working on her private pilot’s license and wishes to pursue a career in travel journalism.
Suzanna was recently honored as a recipient of the George E. Haddaway Scholarship.

This summer, Suzanna Brooks is sending journals from her Study Abroad experience in Italy. In the summer of 2007, Suzanna interned at "The Voice of the Airports," Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA) The company is a lobbying group and  business association representing local, regional, and state governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada. Kristen Seaman, Gaithersburg, Md.

Kristen is a sophomore double-majoring in Communication and Meteorology. On campus she serves as the Vice President of Chi Epsilon Phi, a meteorological honors society, and Secretary for the American Meteorological Society. She hopes to receive an internship over the summer with FOX35 News in Orlando. Kristen was recently honored as a recipient of the George E. Haddaway Scholarship.

 

 


Joe Yoffe, Manchester, England

Joe is currently a junior in the Communication program with a minor in business. Outside of the classroom, Joe is a forward on the men’s varsity soccer team. He has completed an internship with ERAU’s Sports Media department, where he worked with digital media and video. Joe gained experience and skills he believes will enhance his career prospects upon graduation.



The George E. Haddaway Scholarship Fund annually awards one or more one-time scholarships to a junior or senior college student or graduate student who is pursuing either a baccalaureate degree or an advanced degree in print, film, broadcasting, design, or electronic communication; and who has a demonstrated interest in aviation. The scholarship may be used at any accredited college or university in the United States or its possessions.
