Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Program's Span Means Wide Career Path
A degree in mechanical engineering from
Embry-Riddle is versatile.
It is an excellent foundation
for graduate programs in engineering or for
entering a career after graduation.
You’ll be prepared for immediate employment in a
variety of engineering positions in any number of
industries or governmental agencies, including:
aviation
aerospace
automotive and mass transit systems
industrial design and manufacturing
medical
robotics
Many working mechanical engineers choose to enter
a management track after several years into their
careers. Many large U.S. technical firms are run by
managers with degrees in engineering.
Special opportunities help prepare you for careers
Co-ops and internships:
Students studying mechanical engineering are offered a broad
array of opportunities in the field. Employers
consistently look to Embry-Riddle for their
employment needs. Companies like Boeing,
Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, Cessna, Sikorsky,
Rolls Royce, New Piper Aircraft and many others
visit Embry-Riddle during the annual Career
Expos held on each campus.
Senior Design Project:
As a senior, you’ll work
for two semesters as a member of a team that
carries out and defends the conceptual design
of an aircraft, spacecraft,or high-performance
land vehicle in an industry-like environment.
Each team factors in cost, safety, manufacturability
and maintainability, and the needs of the
public. You’ll have experience that demonstrates
to employers your ability to work with realistic
constraints and practical considerations.
Competitions:
An all-female team of Embry-Riddle sponsored students is poised to compete
in SAE’s annual mini-Baja. The contest requires
student teams design, build, test, promote and
race a vehicle that will be subjected to severe
punishment and rough terrain. An equally-ambitious effort is taking place
with the mixed male/female SAE Formula car.
