Advocacy

The DSS staff assists students to advocate for their own goals, objectives, and special needs by:

(1) Informing/teaching students about their right to equal access

(2) Helping students recognize their responsibilities

(3) Fostering self esteem

(4) Engaging students in dialogue and activities that help them become self-directed

(5) Coaching students in effective communications/interpersonal relations
