Aviation Maintenance Science

The demand for aviation maintenance specialists has never been greater, and with a degree, graduates are positioned for advancement into management. ERAU graduates emerge from the Aviation Maintenance program with the ability to service, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary of an aircraft mechanic is $55,980, receiving an average of more than $1,000 in annual bonuses.

Students will earn the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Power Plant certificates (A&P mechanic licenses). Certifications/licenses previously earned may qualify for applied credit.

The Aviation Maintenance program at ERAU is taught by dedicated faculty who are also industry professionals. Together, they have more than 300 years of combined knowledge and experience.

Although the program is geared toward aviation and aerospace, ERAU’s curriculum prepares graduates for success with companies in any industry.


About Aviation Maintenance Science at the Worldwide & Online Campus

The Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Science (AMS) at ERAU gives graduates the skills required to work toward higher salaries, greater job satisfaction, and a soaring sense of personal pride.

Students will specialize in one of two maintenance functions:

  • Management: Provides students an integrated understanding of the theories, concepts, and practical applications of logistics, procurement, production, life cycle analysis, and project management.
  • Safety: Provides students an opportunity to complement their practical experience with a study of aviation safety, focusing on the theories and concepts of human factors, mechanical and structural factors, system safety, and maintenance-related safety practices.

Students gain a solid core of courses in general education, which prepares graduates for success in any industry, not just aviation.
