Fuel Mixing Diffusers

PI Ciprian Mancas

The problem of mixing fuel from a diffuser is inherent to the automotive field. The most turbulent flow over a diffuser allows the fuels to mix efficiently, which in turn, maximizes the efficiency of the diffuser. A high ratio of natural gas to diesel is desired to provide efficient ignition.

However, the current design of mixers ineffectively uses the mixture before detonation. This research project will allow students to re- engineer the diffusers with low efficiency into a more efficient ones.
