Heuristic Approach for the Vendor Managed Inventory Problem

PI Soumia Ichoua

In this project, we consider the Vendor Managed Inventory Problem. We propose a rolling horizon approach where a schedule is repeatedly constructed over a fixed number of time periods using a tabu search heuristic.

In this project, we consider the Vendor Managed Inventory Problem where a vendor is responsible for maintaining its customers’ inventory levels. We propose a rolling horizon approach where a schedule is repeatedly constructed over a fixed number of time periods using a tabu search heuristic. The goal is to determine the best way to coordinate routing and inventory decisions while minimizing total costs. Decisions include when and how much to deliver to each customer, as well as which vehicle route to use.
