Message from the Chairman of the Board

Mori HosseiniThe Embry-Riddle Board of Trustees has a formidable obligation to provide appropriate stewardship and leadership, in consultation with the President, to further the University’s mission and educational goals. For all of us, that responsibility continues to be an honor given the institution’s inspiring 90-year legacy of innovation and the continuing successes of Embry-Riddle students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

The University has reached an exciting point in its history. The Trustees have worked diligently to help guide Embry-Riddle to achieve even greater heights so that it becomes known not only as a leading aviation and aerospace institution, but also as a truly premier global science and engineering University and a driver of industry innovation.

The signs of our progress toward that goal are all around us, particularly with the debut of the John Mica Engineering & Aerospace Innovation Complex, or MicaPlex – a cutting-edge research facility near the Daytona Beach, Florida, campus that will soon be accompanied by the largest wind tunnel and test facility in the Southeast. The related Embry-Riddle Research Park will stimulate economic progress and put students in direct contact with industry partners, so that they can more effectively compete for jobs in the science-intensive economy of the future. Similar signs of progress can be found on the Prescott, Arizona, campus where a new Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Center and planetarium have been taking shape. The University’s Worldwide Campus, meanwhile, was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as number one in the nation among undergraduate online programs.

Embry-Riddle serves more than 31,000 students at its two residential campuses in Florida and Arizona, through the Worldwide Campus with 125 locations around the globe, and through online programs. Our students and our more than 125,000 alumni represent an elite community of leaders in innovation. They are our greatest achievement. The mission of the University is, first and foremost, to educate and prepare students for productive careers and leadership roles around the globe. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I extend my gratitude to everyone who supports this important objective. It is a privilege to serve as your Board of Trustees Chairman.
