Forensic Synoptic Analysis

PI Louis McNally

Old weather information can be found in more than old weather registers and observers' journals. Many other sources of information, such as diaries, journals, church records and newspapers can yield useful information.

Application of the techniques used in forensic synoptic analysis can result in important data from which inferences about our changing climate can be made. Current work centers around recovery of data from ships' logs and documents from the late 18th century C.E.
