Your Experience Counts

One of the key benefits of an Embry‑Riddle education is the fact that we are able to make your prior experience count toward your degree.

Senior Pilots

Senior pilots who have completed the Abitur and ATP License and have 12 or more years of work experience can pursue bachelor-degree equivalency by applying for an “Experiential Learning Evaluation.”

If the bachelor’s equivalency is confirmed, senior pilots can apply directly to most of our 10-course master’s programs or one of our four-course graduate certificate programs.

Junior Pilots

Junior pilots can turn their ATPL into university credits. If they also have Abitur, then the 120 U.S. college credits it normally takes to complete a bachelor’s degree may be cut in half (120 U.S. college credits equal 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

Specialty Programs for Pilots

The Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics is designed specifically for students who work or are looking to work in the aviation and aerospace industry. This program combines your previous experience with courses in human factors, security, aviation safety, occupational safety and health, air traffic control, aircraft maintenance and aeronautical science.

The Bachelor of Science in Pilot Operations is tailored for pilots to learn aviation management skills that boost career advancement opportunities. This degree will help you achieve roles in aviation leadership or competitive pilot positions. Pilots who already hold their multi-engine ATP or other ratings can transfer up to 45 credits toward this 120-credit degree.

The Master of Science in Aeronautics teaches aerospace and aviation professionals the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue advanced career opportunities. Through combining core classes with unique specializations targeting the aviation and aerospace industry, graduates from this program are experts who excel professionally and become leaders in their field.
