Air Sea Interaction

PI Shahrdad Sajjadi

Many studies have been conducted on air-sea interactions. However, their main focus is on the dynamics of air-sea interactions of turbulent wind over non-linear unsteady waves. This project is in collaboration with University College London and the Trinity College, University of Cambridge.

The theoretical modeling for air-sea interactions and turbulence is made by Dr. Sajjadi, whilst Dr. Drullion has primarily focused on computational aspects. We have developed 2 and 3D full Reynolds-Stress turbulence model codes which are stable even for flows over extremely sharp-crested waves. Also, Dr. Drullion's earlier vortex dynamics code for studying tornados has recently been extended to incorporate tornado funnels. The computational aspect of funnel generation is in collaboration with Dr. Khanal. We shall be producing the first predictive path methods of tornados after they touch down.
