Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students
In accordance with the regulations defined by the U.S. Department of Education, provided below is information regarding Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s (Embry-Riddle’s or University’s) participation in the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) II, Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA Act) and HEERF III, American Rescue Plan Act (ARP Act), Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
The following information is provided per the U.S. Department of Education’s reporting requirements and represents Embry-Riddle’s reporting for student grant funding under the CRRSA Act and the ARP Act:
- Embry-Riddle acknowledges that it has signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education (the “Department”) the Certification and Agreement and has used the applicable amount of funds designated under Section 314(a)(1) and (a)(4) of the CRRSA Act and ARP Act programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
- Embry-Riddle received $17,931,212 from the Department pursuant to the University’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSA Act and ARP Act programs.
- As of September 30, 2021, a total of $14,643,858 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants was distributed to students under the CRRSA Act and ARP Act programs. (Between July 1 and September 30, 2021, a total of $11,221,000 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants was distributed to students under the ARP Act program. Between January 1 and June 30, 2021, a total of $3,422,858 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants was distributed to students under the CRRSA Act program.) These funds provided Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students which could be used for: 1) any component of the student’s cost of attendance or 2) emergency costs that arose due to coronavirus.
- The total number of students at Embry-Riddle eligible to participate in the CRRSA Act and ARP Act programs to receive emergency financial aid grants for the period from July 1 through September 30, 2021 was approximately 21,858.
- The total number of students who received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to Students under the CRRSA Act and ARP Act programs for the period from July 1 through September 30, 2021 was 3,479.
- In determining funding for CRRSA Act eligible students, the University prioritized Pell eligible students and provided: 1) up to $6,000 for on-campus students (i.e. not exclusively on-line) based on financial need as determined by various factors (e.g., FASFA criteria, specific determination of additional exceptional financial need, etc.); and 2) $400 for exclusively on-line students. The University provided non-Pell eligible students up to $1,500 based on financial need as determined by various factors (e.g. CRRSA Act Financial Aid Grant Application, etc.).
Under CRRSA Act guidelines, in order to qualify for a grant, students must have been enrolled in at least one credit hour for the Spring or Summer 2021 semesters (Daytona Beach and Prescott residential campuses) or January through June 2021 terms (Worldwide/Online campus) at the time of disbursement. Per federal guidelines, the University did not issue CRRSA Act funds to international, DACA and undocumented students.
In determining funding for ARP Act eligible students, the University prioritized Pell eligible students and provided: 1) up to $6,000 for on-campus students (i.e. not exclusively on-line) based on financial need as determined by various factors (e.g., FASFA criteria, specific determination of additional exceptional financial need, etc.); and 2) $1,000 for exclusively on-line students. The University provided non-Pell eligible students up to $3,000 based on financial need as determined by various factors (e.g. FAFSA criteria, ARP Act Financial Aid Grant Application, etc.).
Under ARP guidelines, in order to qualify for a grant, students must have been enrolled in at least one credit hour for the Fall 2021 semester (Daytona Beach and Prescott residential campuses) or July through September 2021 terms (Worldwide/Online campus) at the time of disbursement.
