Foundations of Legacy: Lisa Spencer
What inspired you to join Embry-Riddle, and what has motivated you to stay throughout the years?
I started with Embry-Riddle as a temporary worker through Kelley Services. Eight months later, I joined the team. I stayed throughout the years because of the supportive work environment, career development opportunities and the ability to directly impact students as they aim toward their careers.
What has been your favorite part of working at the university?
Providing customer service and support to graduates, advisors, staff and colleagues. Plus, the awesome retirement plan.
What advice would you give to new employees starting their journey at Embry-Riddle?
"Take advantage of any opportunity that is presented to you. Do not let fear keep you from trying new things. Success is most often achieved by those who don't know that failure is inevitable."
What do you think sets Embry-Riddle apart as a workplace and institution?
Endless opportunities for growth, education opportunities, supportive leadership. A strong network with aviation companies, allowing for valuable internships and career opportunities for students and employees.
How do you balance longevity with growth and adaptability in your role?
Embrace change as change develops, proactively communicating my desire to evolve with my role.
