Sam, with a short black beard wearing a white button down shirt, smiles with his arms crossed.

  • Hometown: San Diego, California
"I come from a family of jewelers, I have worked in the construction industry in Dubai as a section manager for ALEC since 2006 and came back to the U.S. in 2011 to realize my dream of owning a business and pursuing further studies in aviation!"

Good Morning!

"I usually wake up at 7 a.m. I'm not a big breakfast fan but I like American coffee to kick off my day. The highlight of my mornings is chatting with my mom and sister."

Coffee Culture

Sam is Lebanese — and Lebanese coffee, as opposed to American coffee, is very finely ground and served with cardamom in espresso cups.

Sam smiles broadly, putting a ring on the finger of a woman on the other side of a counter.

A Day at Work

"I start my day by talking to clients, getting jobs in, completing jewelry jobs and make sure our clients are satisfied!"

Valuable Knowledge

Many skills learned at Embry-Riddle, from leadership to project management to team collaboration, are applicable in any field — not just aviation.

We see Sam from behind, and over his shoulder, an open laptop.

Study Session

"Back at home, I study and like to talk to my family. My favorite place to study is the garage, and my favorite aspect of my major is learning about the technology behind the aviation industry and the continuous work that doesn't stop."

Industry Growth

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for aircraft and avionics equipment mechanics and technicians is steadily growing at a rate of 4%!

Getting in Gear

"I really enjoy my leadership class, as it involves our everyday dealing with people — a vital and crucial part of our shaping and decision making."

You Have Options

In the B.S. in Aviation Maintenance, students choose a specialty in either Management or Safety.

Taking a Break

"After work and school, I work out at the gym or hang out with my friends. I like to have dinner somewhere and socialize. When I don't have plans, I usually study until I fall asleep."
