Dr. Faisal Ahmed is an assistant professor of Mathematics and Data Science whose work bridges applied mathematics, machine learning and artificial intelligence. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Data Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, where his research focused on Topological Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Medical Image Analysis.
His research explores the intersection of mathematical modeling and intelligent systems, with particular interests in topological machine learning, computer vision, vision transformers, deep neural networks and AI-driven healthcare applications. Dr. Ahmed has developed novel methodologies, including ToFi-ML, HOG-CNN and Topo-CNN, for medical image classification and disease detection. His work has been published in leading conferences and journals, including IEEE, ICCV, the Journal of Imaging Informatics in Medicine and the Journal of Biomedical Signal Processing and Control.
