Athletics Center

The Athletics Center is located on the west side of campus in Building 80 and was recently renovated with a new Fitness Center. The renovation plan completed in 2015 included $4.2M worth of remodeling and renovations that brought to campus a new basketball court and bleachers, new training equipment and offices for staff. The fitness center is home to a weight room and new cardio room, which features flat-screen TVs on the walls, elliptical machines, treadmills, stair-steppers and other cardio equipment. Just off the main lobby is the aerobics room, which offers various exercise classes, including yoga, Zumba and even ballroom dancing.

Attached to the Athletics Center is the Eagle Gym, which is open during fitness center hours for students to play a pick-up game of basketball or indoor soccer, take advantage of the indoor climbing wall or possibly catch an intramural dodgeball tournament. The men’s and women’s locker rooms are also found here. This multipurpose space hosts University-sponsored events, such as OctoberWest and the International Festival, as well as ROTC training exercises. The 96x60-foot gym surface is equipped for basketball and volleyball.

The wrestling and volleyball teams as well as various intramural sports teams spend their time competing in the Activity Center (Building 83) that sits just behind the Athletics Center and Eagle Gym. This space features two full-sized basketball courts on the classic hardwood gymnasium floor, and retractable bleachers can transform the space for larger events. The 120x120-foot gym can hold up to 1,900 people and is used for other events, such as orientation, graduation, the Career Expo and Information Fair, as well as local and state youth sporting events.

Intramural and Softball Fields

In the middle of the athletics facilities area sit the intramural, athletics and softball fields. When intramural and club teams aren't using the intramural and athletics fields, various other University-related activities can be found here, including ROTC ceremonies, local and state-wide youth sporting events and summer camps.

The softball field is home to Embry Riddle's softball team and features lights, dugouts, bleachers, batting cages and a scoreboard. All three fields can be lit for night use.

If you find yourself in need of a quick dip in the winter, student activities plans the “polar bear plunge” for those brave enough to drop into those cold waters. The pool area sports a deck for sunbathing as well as poolside lounge chairs. A student monitor is on-site from 1-5 p.m. The pool is open to Embry-Riddle students, faculty, staff and their guests (with a guest pass). Children 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Surrounding the pool area are the tennis, sand volleyball and racquetball courts. The tennis and volleyball courts are lit for nighttime use. One racquetball court has been converted into the Matted Room for activities like yoga, martial arts and boxing.

Note: Student monitors are not certified lifeguards. Please use caution whenever in or around the pool area.

Track and Soccer Fields

Sitting on a hill just behind the Eagle Gym and Athletics Complex, Varsity Field is home to the track and soccer field, which showcases the area’s spectacular views of the San Francisco Peaks and Granite Mountain.

The soccer field is a FIFA regulation 120x80 yards in size and is surrounded by a lighted and curbed 440-yard running track. The southwest side of the running area has a cut-grass slope for amphitheater-type seating. The track is lit three nights per week for nighttime student use but is available 24 hours per day.
