Undergraduate Minors
Minor courses of study are academic programs designed to satisfy students’ personal interests and meet their professional needs. Students explore, in some depth, the offerings in a field of study. A minor course of study provides the student with significant experience in a discipline organized around skills, methodology and subject matter. To gain the greatest value from their academic experience, students are encouraged to select minors that complement their degree program and/or other minors that they are pursuing.

Combined Program Pathways: 4+1 Degree Programs
Earn a bachelor's and master's in just five years! Exceptional students who are committed to continuing their education through a master's degree can reduce the time it takes to complete their bachelor's and master's by entering one of Embry‑Riddle Worldwide's 4+1 Programs.
A 4+1 Program — also referred to as Combined Program Pathway — allows qualified students in selected bachelor's degrees to begin a select master's program while still completing a bachelor's. By doing so, these students can earn both degrees in just five academic years. Students may also choose a longer time frame for one or both degrees while still saving time overall based on their pace. Thus, the 4+1 Program helps students enter their chosen field with a graduate degree in shorter time, saving them tuition costs and allowing them to begin flexing their earning potential that much quicker.
All five of our undergraduate degrees have Combined Program (4+1) Pathways:
- B.S. in Emergency Services to M.S. in Emergency Services
- B.S. in Communication to M.S. in Human Security and Resilience
- B.S. in Homeland Security to M.S. in Human Security and Resilience
- B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies to M.S. in Human Security and Resilience
- B.S in Safety Management to M.S. in Occupational Safety Management
Additionally, we have a 4+1 Program with Prescott Campus:

Honors Summer Seminars
Accept an academic challenge in one of our Honors Summer Seminars. Taught by senior faculty, honors seminars offer a deeper and more detailed exploration of course topics, and a more engaged and interactive format than other similar classes, providing early student research opportunities. Honors seminars can be used to satisfy general education requirements.
Study Abroad Summer Program
Have an immersive global experience in one of our Study Abroad Programs:
- Summer 2026: Cultural Identities & Conflict: A UK Study Abroad Tour
- Summer 2027: To be announced
Pathway to Student Research
Take your skills to the next level with one of our Research Experiences:
- Enroll in one of our Research Undergraduate Minor program (under consideration)
- Enter a research mentorship with a full-time faculty member
- Apply as a Student Research Assistant at our college (remote paid position; must reside in either Florida or Arizona)
Our research assistants work closely with faculty members on their projects and are able to assist with mission-critical activities such as comprehensive literature reviews; implication and broader impact statements; research synthesis; data analysis; interview transcription and coding; executive idea summaries; website building; and other foundational tasks in the pursuit of dissemination activities and/or external sponsorship. These are paid positions that often result in student involvement in conference presentations, peer-reviewed publications and grant proposals.
Students interested in research mentorships or research assistantships should contact Dr. Christina M. Frederick, Senior Research and Scholarship Mentor.
Research Scholars Program
Students who aspire to engage in sustained research activities over the course of their undergraduate career are invited to apply for admittance into the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program. Requirements include: two or more terms/semesters of research under the supervision of a mentor; completion of research training; research dissemination; and reflection. Successful completion of the program will result in a Research Scholar notation on the student’s official academic transcript.
PATHWAYS supports the program and meeting of its requirements as well as certifies successful program completion and awarding of the Research Scholar transcript notation. Interested students must apply for the program no later than the first day of the term of which they anticipate graduating. Applications will not be accepted after a student’s undergraduate degree has been conferred.
For questions, please contact Dr. Christina M. Frederick, Senior Research and Scholarship Mentor.
