The Worldwide & Online Department of Human Factors, Safety and Social Sciences examines how people think, decide and perform within complex systems including flight decks and space operations centers to AI-enabled workplaces and global communities. Psychology, sociology, economics, human factors and safety sciences converge here to understand the human element at the heart of aviation, space and emerging technologies.
Apply Knowledge to Real Problems
Students learn to translate cognitive, behavioral and social science into safer, smarter, more effective mission and operational outcomes. Through applied projects in aviation, UX, human-system integration, human-AI teaming, ergonomics, space operations and organizational decision-making, faculty guide learners in solving real problems that improve human and team performance, reduce risk and advance next-generation aerospace systems.
