The Undergraduate Multiphysics Computation Group (UMCG) prepares students of all majors and disciplines for the systematic and rigorous use of multiphysics computational methods and tools. These methods and tools are used in industry and graduate school for the modeling and simulation of physical phenomena.
Students are specifically trained in formulating simulations with sufficient detail to make and defend engineering decisions and guide impactful research. In support of their simulations, UMCG members publish conference and journal papers and support URI and senior capstone projects.
Recent UMCG projects include the analysis of next-generation phase change NV-RAM technologies, electromagnetic railgun simulation and the heat transfer simulation of cellular transceivers.

- Industry and open-source computational design tools, including Ansys, Catia, MATLAB, Cadence and MOOSE.
