The Embry-Riddle Uncrewed Pilot Trainer (ERUPT) is a simulated environment where the user can operate either a fixed-wing or multirotor uncrewed aerial vehicle.

Joystick Support

ERUPT requires students to have a joystick controller; below is a list of recommended controllers by operating system. Other controllers purchased are not guaranteed to work properly.

  • On Windows systems, a PlayStation DualShock 4 Wireless Controller, PlayStation DualSense 5 Wireless Controller, Xbox Wireless Controller, Logitech 310 or Logitech 710 controller may be used.
  • Linux and Mac systems support PlayStation DualShock 4 Wireless Controller, PlayStation DualSense 5 Wireless Controller and Xbox Wireless Controller, but not Logitech.

Fixed Wing

Use left/right arrows to navigate between tabs. Use tab or down arrow to enter a tabpanel.

Follow the instructions below to install the fixed wing program on your device.
  1. Download the ERUPT software. Locate the ERUPT_FixedWing_App_V1_Windows.zip file in your Downloads.
  2. Select the folder and then select Extract All.
  3. Select a destination for the extracted files, then select Extract. Note: It is recommended to extract the files to your desktop. 
  4. Open ERUPT_FixedWing.exe.
  5. The file may need special permission to run. To allow the file to run, first select More info. To run the file, select Run anyway.
  6. You should be greeted with an Embry-Riddle Copyright screen. Now move on to Using Fixed Wing.


  1. Download the ERUPT software and select the ERUPT_FixedWing_App_V1_Mac.zip file in your Downloads.
  2. The Finder app will open. Locate and select the ERUPT_FixedWing_App_V1_Mac Application.
  3. You will see a message from Apple notifying you that "ERUPT_FixedWing_App_V1_Mac" did not open due to Apple's inability to check the application for malware. Select Done.
  4. Navigate to System Settings. Select Privacy & Security.
  5. Scroll down and you'll see the file listed under Security. Select Open Anyway.
  6. The file will attempt to open. If another warning menu appears, select Open Anyway. Note: Your computer may ask you to enter your password for additional security. Enter your password, select OK and the program should launch.
  7. You should be greeted with an Embry-Riddle Copyright screen. Now move on to Using Fixed Wing.


Multirotor

Use left/right arrows to navigate between tabs. Use tab or down arrow to enter a tabpanel.

Follow the below guide on how to install the Multirotor program on your respective device.
  1. Download the ERUPT software. Locate and access the ERUPT_MultiRotor_App_Windows_3pt1.zip file in your Downloads.
  2. Select the folder and then select Extract All.
  3. Select a destination for the extracted files, then select Extract. Note: It is recommended to extract the files to your desktop.
  4. Open the extracted folder, then open ERUPT_MultiRotor_App_Windows.exe.
  5. The file may need special permission to run. To allow the file to run, first select More info. To run the file, select Run anyway.
  6. You should be greeted with an Embry-Riddle Copyright screen. Now move on to Using Multirotor.

  1. Download the ERUPT software and select the ERUPT_MultiRotor_App_Mac_V3pt1.zip file in your Downloads. 
  2. The Finder app will open. Locate and select the ERUPT_MultiRotor_App_Mac_V3pt1 Application.

ROV

  1. Download the ERUPT Software. Locate and access the ERUPT_ROV_V1_Windows.zip file in your Downloads.
  2. Select the folder and then select Extract All.
  3. Select a destination for the extracted files, then select Extract. Note: It is recommended to extract the files to your desktop.
  4. Open ERUPT_ROV_V1.exe.
  5. The file may need special permission to run. To allow the file to run, first select More info. To run the file, select Run anyway.
  6. You should be greeted with an Embry-Riddle Copyright screen. Now move on to Using ROV.
