Prior to working as faculty at Embry-Riddle, Jeremy gained significant experience as a weather forecaster and meteorologist both with the U.S. government and in the private sector. He began his career in the private sector as a Storm Watch Meteorologist in Houston, Texas after earning his Masters of Atmospheric Science in 2013. This was followed by a position as an Adjunct Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, where he earned Adjunct Faculty of the Year for the 2016-2017 academic year. He then was hired as a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2021. At the Flagstaff NWS, Jeremy was the Aviation Focal Point, working to improve regional aviation operations and supporting meteorologists in creating tailored forecasts to airport specifications and limitations.
Additionally, Jeremy is a Weather Officer and Commander of the 162nd Combat Weather Flight (CWF), Arizona Air National Guard (AZANG), Morris Air National Guard (ANG) Base, Tucson, Arizona. As commander of the 162d CWF, he leads a group of weather professionals, ensuring the proficiency and readiness of CWF Airmen supporting the U.S. Army and Joint operations. As Staff Weather Officer, Capt Mazon infuses meteorological and scientific knowledge into the military decision-making process, mitigating risk and improving warfighter capability.
Jeremy Mazon enlisted in the Arizona Army National Guard in August 2014. He received his commission through Officer Candidate School in August 2017, where he was awarded the Erickson Trophy as the Distinguished Honor Graduate. He completed Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course in May 2018, earning recognition as an Honor Graduate. He served as a Fire Support Officer with 1-487th FA HHB DET 1 attached to the 1-158th Infantry Regiment in Phoenix, Arizona. Jeremy changed military branches from Army to Air Force in May 2020, joining the 162nd Wing. He graduated from Weather and Environmental Science Officer Course in 2021 at the top of his class, once again earning Distinguished Honor Graduate. Prior to his current position as Commander, the Captain served as a Weather Officer with the 162nd CWF, AZANG, Morris ANG Base, Tucson, Arizona.
