Rachel Jones is an assistant professor of Cyber Intelligence and Security at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott Campus. Her interdisciplinary academic background includes degrees in computer networking and cybersecurity, political science, outer space management and cyber intelligence. She earned a Ph.D. in aerospace sciences from the University of North Dakota, where her dissertation focused on CubeSat cybersecurity.
Before entering academia, Jones spent more than a decade working in cybersecurity and communications. She served as principal investigator for a $700,000 space cybersecurity study at Savannah River National Laboratory and deployed to Antarctica as a senior communications technician supporting operations at McMurdo Station.
Jones holds multiple industry certifications and has contributed to publications in her field. She is passionate about mentoring students and involving them in hands-on research that connects cybersecurity concepts with real-world applications.
