Riccardo Bevilacqua

Overview

Dr. Riccardo Bevilacqua is a professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle and serves as vice provost for Academic Affairs and the university's Italian ambassador. He earned an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Rome "Sapienza" in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the same institution in 2007.

Dr. Bevilacqua's research focuses on spacecraft formation flying, space robotics, orbital debris and spacecraft fragmentation, and space situational awareness. He has authored or co-authored more than 170 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications and is the founder and chair of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) Conference on Space Situational Awareness.

His honors include the Air Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator Award, the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the Dave Ward Memorial Lecture Award from the Aerospace Controls and Guidance Systems Committee and multiple U.S. Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowships. Dr. Bevilacqua is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and a member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA).
