Overview

Bio: I bring over 30 years of technical experience from several facets of the aerospace industry. Most of my history involves airworthiness matters, as related to article/product certification; maintenance, inspection, repair, and alteration; and, repair station and AMT schools, etc. My career began with military aviation and my background combines piston-driven and turbine-powered aircraft of both fixed-winged and rotary-winged varieties. I have worked for two of the world's largest part 135 (air taxi, on-demand) operators.

Safety Focus: A common thread throughout my work history is aviation safety management and system safety functions, including aircraft accident/incident investigations, safety audits, safety training, and analyses in both private consulting and now in my current role of Aviation Safety Inspector-Airworthiness for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). I spent several years as a technical instructor for a large 14 CFR part 135 operator and its associated repair station. Before joining the FAA, I was a volunteer FAA Safety Team Representative and before that, I was an Aviation Safety Counselor-Airworthiness. I have also been a contributing writer for aviation magazines, and journal articles, and an active presenter at various aviation safety-related seminars, conferences, and training/educational events.
