I am an applied physiologist, with specializations in the area of aerospace and exercise physiology. After receiving my M.S. in exercise physiology from the University of Louisville (and B.S. in Biology from the University of Dayton), I was commissioned as an Air Force Aerospace Physiologist. I spent the first 13 years of my Air Force career teaching aviation physiology to aircrew.
Although such teaching was rewarding, I wanted to expand my physiology knowledge and was fortunate to be selected for an Air Force-sponsored Ph.D. program. In 2006, I earned a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico and began working for the Air Force Research Laboratory. There I was able to participate in a great deal of human research that benefitted our armed forces. Further, I was able to be the principal investigator on several applied physiology studies, publishing my research in journals as diverse as Metabolism, the Journal of Special Operations Medicine, and Aviation, Space and Environmental Medicine.
In 2011, I retired from the USAF and opened my own applied physiology consulting business. I teach biology and flight physiology for ERAU and teach other health science classes at two other universities.Ph.D. - Doctor of Philosophy in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, University of New Mexico-Main Campus
