An ongoing project to better understand the history of the science of sun-earth connection, including subtopics such as sun-weather studies and "space weather"
Project Details
This research involves historical, archival research into the 200+ year history of the effort of scientists to understand how the sun and earth are connected physically in space. This research is primarily focused on efforts in the US in the 20th century, but it also extends to other European nations during the last 200 years. The most recent result of this work is the book, "A Scientific Peak: How Boulder became a World Center for Space and Atmospheric Science" (American Meteorological Society Press, 2015).
