Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide has successfully collaborated on aviation English training with Air Astana, one of the largest airlines in Central Asia.
The university’s Aviation English Department recently delivered two Aviation English Rater Courses to the Kazakhstan airline to support its ongoing efforts to strengthen Aviation English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards and ensure effective operational communications.
Following the completion of the courses delivered by Worldwide Campus, Air Astana has received certification from the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan for its English Proficiency Testing System (EPTS) course. This certification reflects regulatory approval of Air Astana’s proprietary ELP testing framework and its alignment with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) language proficiency requirements.
“Our partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University represents an important step in the continued development of the Air Astana English Proficiency Testing System, the first in-house English language proficiency system in Kazakhstan,” said Air Astana Training Support Manager Roman Zharkov. “By investing in internationally recognized training and assessment standards, we are reinforcing our commitment to aviation safety and operational excellence.”
Dr. John Watret, chancellor of Embry-Riddle Worldwide, said that the university has long made it a mission to strengthen aviation English, a hallmark of aviation safety.
“Clear and effective communication is essential in aviation, helping pilots, air traffic controllers and aviation professionals work together seamlessly to ensure safe operations around the world,” he said. “We thank Air Astana for their commitment to these efforts.”
Embry-Riddle Worldwide will continue working with Air Astana to support future aviation English initiatives, including the development of additional rater capacity and the provision of annual recurrent training for currently certified raters. This continued collaboration reflects a shared commitment to quality assurance, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in aviation communication, said Luis E. Alcaraz, manager of Business Strategies for the Worldwide Campus.
