Project Management Institute (PMI) has approved Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide to establish a student chapter, connecting students with professional mentors, networking opportunities and hands-on learning experiences that strengthen leadership and project management skills.
PMI is the world's leading association for project professionals, with more than 700,000 members worldwide. PMI Chapter Student Clubs aim to bridge the gap between higher education and the professional world.
“The approval of this PMI student chapter reflects Embry-Riddle Worldwide's commitment to providing students with experiences that prepare them for success in a world where project management is more important than ever,” said Dr. John Watret, chancellor of the Worldwide Campus.
Students participating in the chapter will explore project management career paths, collaborate with industry professionals and gain access to professional development resources. Members will also be eligible for a discounted PMI student membership rate.
“Project management is a critical skill across virtually every industry. This chapter will help students apply classroom learning in a professional environment while strengthening the leadership and organizational skills employers increasingly seek,” said Dr. Maneesh Sharma, dean of the Worldwide College of Business.
The chapter was established through collaboration between Embry-Riddle Worldwide and PMI Space Coast, a regional professional PMI chapter that partnered with the university during the approval process. The chapter was officially approved on May 4.
Although hosted through PMI Space Coast, the student chapter is virtual and open to Embry-Riddle Worldwide students regardless of location.
“As students, we're excited about the opportunity to connect with professionals, learn from experienced mentors and build a network that can help us launch our careers,” said Anna Blohowiak, student chapter president.
