Mr. Hanamean is a full-time faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology and the former, founding Director of the Center of Mentorship Programs and Student Success (COMPASS), the ERAU-WW Mentorship Program.
Mr. Hanamean received his M.S. in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University. Prior to his academic career, he served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, the final 13 years as a weather officer in various command, staff and operational positions.
Mr. Hanamean’s research interests include the impacts of vegetation greenness on maximum and minimum temperatures in Northeast Colorado. He is also interested in ways to incorporate technology into the classroom to improve the learning and teaching experience and student mentorship.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Hanamean enjoys writing science fiction, studying the Bible with others, playing guitar and spending time with his family.

Mr. Hanamean served as an adjunct faculty member starting in 2005 and became the Director of Academics at Worldwide’s Seymour Johnson Campus before becoming a full-time faculty member in 2013. He was the Associate Discipline Chair of Physical & Life Sciences before becoming the Associate Chair for the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences (currently named Human Factors, Safety and Social Sciences). He was the Acting Chair of that department for five months in 2024 before returning to his home department of Mathematics, Science and Technology.
