Mark G. Benton

Overview

Mark G. Benton Sr. brings 35 years of experience in the aerospace industry and national security space to his role at Embry-Riddle. He teaches courses in rocket propulsion, spacecraft systems engineering and spacecraft design. He earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Benton is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He serves on the AIAA Space Transportation and Space Settlements Technical Committees and is vice chair of the Space Exploration Integration and Outreach Committee. He has authored 27 technical papers focused on advanced aerospace vehicle design and human space exploration.

Benton also served more than 31 years in the U.S. Navy through active and reserve service, retiring in 2015 at the rank of captain (O-6).
