Engineering Physics Propulsion Laboratory

The Engineering Physics Propulsion Laboratory (EPPL) is a cutting-edge research facility that engages in high-tech projects supported by both industry partners and government grants. The lab provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students from a range of departments — including Engineering Physics, Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering — to gain hands-on experience in innovative research. Students actively participate in a wide variety of scientific projects, many of which incorporate groundbreaking technological advancements.

Since its foundation in 2015, the lab’s research has been primarily focused on in-space propulsion systems for spacecraft. Currently, EPPL also explores a range of high-tech industrial applications, including robotics, control systems, artificial intelligence and emerging fields such as quantum systems control and quantum computing.

Over the years, the lab has contributed to several NASA and industry-supported projects, developing innovative solutions in areas of cold gas and steam propulsion, drones' swarm control, autonomous robotics and intelligent control systems for industrial thermomechanical processes.

EPPL’s interdisciplinary approach fosters collaboration across various fields of engineering and science. The lab continues to push the boundaries of research and innovation, providing students with invaluable experience in the rapidly evolving fields of physics, engineering and intelligent systems.
