Exploring vulnerabilities, threats, and exploits in small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS)
  • PI John Craiger

  • Small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), also known as drones, have been called flying computers given the overlap in their technologies. The purpose of this research is to conduct cybersecurity vulnerability assessments of several sUAS to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and associated exploits to the sUAS. Cyber vulnerabilities could theoretically allow a bad actor to take control of the sUAS, cause it to malfunction while in flight, and more.

EXTENDING THE LAUNDERED FUNDS DESTINATION THEORY: APPLYING THE WALKER-UNGER GRAVITY MODEL TO RUSSIAN-BASED MONEY LAUNDERER COUNTRY PREFERENCE FROM 2000-2020
  • PI Juan Roman

    CO-I Thomas Schaefer

    CO-I Ana Machuca

  • Determine Russian-based money launderer destination preferrence.

  • This grant supports fundamental research on a radical transformation of additive manufacturing through digitally connecting machines, humans, and manufactured products.
From degree to Chief Information Security Officer (CISO): A framework for consideration
  • CO-I Martha Harrell

  • Research findings from this study demonstrate a framework in which to examine the required skills of a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), with consideration of the relationship between the (a) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), (b) Chief Finance Officer (CFO), (c) Chief Information Officer (CIO), (d) Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), (e) Chief Risk Officer (CRO), and (f) Chief Security Officer (CSO) within the Information Security and Assurance field and the needs of both industry and academia. Participants were asked to complete a 10-15 minute survey conducted between various CISOs and academicians.
Fuel Slosh
  • PI Sathya Gangadharan

  • 2014 marks the eleventh year of Fuel Slosh studies that have been carried out at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Initially funded by NASA Graduate Student Research Program (GSRP) along with Southwest Research Institute, the research was started by Keith Schlee, a graduate student, under the guidance of Dr. Sathya Gangadharan, professor at Embry-Riddle.
Fundamental Experimental and Numerical Combustion Study of H2 Containing Fuels for Gas Turbines
  • PI Scott Martin

  • This project is a University Turbine Systems research grant funded by the Department of Energy.  In collaboration with the University of Central Florida, Purdue University and the University of New Mexico, Embry‑Riddle will develop fundamental data and modeling of H2 and NH3 fuels for gas turbine power plants.
